Once again this year Bullwood was asked by the Committee of Big Hearted Scotland to craft their awards. We were very pleased to be given this opportunity once again to show our craftsmanship and design skills to so many people.

Bullwood Sawmill

Bullwood Sawmill

New Premises

Thanks to WRAP and the Glasgow City Council & others the Bullwood Sawmill arrived in Glasgow in July 2009. Four of our volunteer were trained on how to operate the sawmill supplied by Loglogic of Peverston in Devon. It was a slow start but now the first volunteers are now training others how to use the mill. It is hoped that we can sell on the lumber and become a self sustaining Charity allowing us to concentrate on our core values. As well as stopping good quality Scottish Timber being dumped into landfill.

Wood Drying Kiln

Wood Drying Kiln

New Equipment

The 16 cubic meter wood drying kiln we ordered from Kiln Service of Essex is nearly ready to be shipped from their factory. We have the base all ready; work on the ramps is going as planned, as is all the services we will need to have this modern state of the art wood drying kiln in operation. Once the kiln is in full operation Bullwood will be one of the largest suppliers of kiln dried wood in the West of Scotland. Our aim is to supply top grade timber to people throughout Scotland how are looking for Scottish Quality Lumber. Stop waste and make haste to save what we have to pass onto the next generation

The Gorbals Church of Scotland

The Gorbals Church of Scotland

Building Pews

Earlier this year the Minister of the Gorbals Church got in touch with us to see if we would be interested in the Pew's from his Church. Due to the way redevelopment of the Gorbals this once proud part of the community was now on the edge of the Gorbals and away from all the homes of its members. Bullwood with the help of Emmaus another well known Charity went in and dismantled all the pews and took them to the workshop at Nitshill. These pews were made from Red Pine when the Church was built in 1986.

We are hoping to make something from this wood for the New Church which will encapsulate the old and the new. Will let you know when this has been discusses by the Church Members and Rev Ian Galloway.

Tartan Week April 2010

Tartan Week April 2010

Attending the New York Parade

Since Bullwood made the Caber of friendship for the people of New York in 2008 from the Christmas Tree which stood in our own George Square Glasgow.

We have been asked to attend the Tartan Day Parade by the Tartan Week Committee.

It is an amazing feeling to walk down 6th Ave with thousands of people cheering and waving. The Caber is now a main attraction in the parade and was carried by the New York Tartan Army since being presented to the People of New York in 2008.

It is hoped that we can attend the parade again in 2010.
